Show pictures of several Christian symbols, eg a cross, dove, fish, halo, alpha and omega, chi-rho. Ask the children to match the symbols to the meanings. Look for such symbols in pictures or videos of churches, or visit a church after looking at pictures of symbols which can be found in that church. What makes it different from most other books? The story of Mary Jones, eg in books or videos, is a useful example of how the Bible is valued. How does this story make you feel? Would you be prepared to give up your time or money for something?
