Rev Steve Haskett, Vicar.
Steve was born and brought up in Blackpool, a 'proper sandgrown'un'. He spent nine years serving as a Police Officer in the town before answering God's call to ministry. A 'cradle Anglican', Steve made a clear commitment to follow Jesus after a renewal experience in his late 20's.
He trained for ministry at Cranmer Hall, part of Durham University. After Ordination, he served at Anchorsholme All Saints before becoming Vicar of St John's in February 2017. Steve's passions in ministry are in the areas of mission and evangelism, especially to younger generations; and seeing the renewal of worship, discipleship and leadership in the local Church. To that end, Steve is currently serving with other leaders to facilitate the Lancashire Festival of Hope, a major evangelistic initiative in partnership with the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, to be held in Blackpool in 2018.
His other roles include being a Foundation Governor of St John's Primary School; a Non-Executive Director of Blackpool Sixth Form College; a Director of Streetlife, a charity that supports homeless young adults in Blackpool; and a Trustee of Life Association, a charity that runs schools and children's homes in India. He has traveled extensively in India (including across it on a bike!).
Steve is married to Lisa, a children's worker in a local primary school. Lisa is involved in the children's and family's work at St John's and also serves in the music team. They have a son called Owen, who is 18 and studying Asia Pacific Studies with Japanese at University. Owen serves in the music team at St John's.
